Research Possibilities
As with many Scandinavian records, most of these records are digitized and can be found online at Digitalarkivet. Other records available there include the Norwegian National census records of 1801, 1865 and 1900, passports issued for travel to America from Bergen 1842-1860, some years of passenger lists from Bergen-Quebec and Bergen-New York. Not all the lists are online yet but Digitalarkivet is working on them.
At the National Library of Norway (Nasionalbiblioteket), the records of the first and second class passengers travelling aboard the vessels of the Norwegian America Line can be researched.
